Cheeseburger Flatbreads

Last night we had an experiment for dinner. Most of my cooking is usually an experiment though so that's not a surprise. I decided to try something I pinned to Pinterest a long time ago. We were low on groceries and nothing really sounded good so I got a little creative. We didn't have the exact ingredients that Pinterest suggested so I had to improvise.

First came the flatbread:

I used 2 1/4 cups Bisquick mix and 2/3 cup milk, then stir it all up.

Spread out a little Bisquick and dump your dough out. Knead it approximately 10 times or so.

Next I took little handfuls of dough about the size you would use to make a biscuit and rolled them out into somewhat round shapes. They need to be pretty thin unless you want your flatbread to be not very flat (figured that one out the hard way).

Heat about 2 tablespoons of the oil of your choice over medium heat. Then add your flatbread.

Heat about 1 minute on each side, or until they are golden brown.

Next brown 1 pound of ground beef.

After the ground beef is browned and drained, I added ketchup, mustard, a little water, season salt, onion powder, and garlic powder. Kind of like sloppy joe mix, but not as creamy (?) I didn't really measure how much of each. Just added til it looked and tasted good. That's my style of measuring. Very accurate.

Now all that's left is to top the flatbread with our meat.

And of course a little shredded cheese. In my world, cheese goes on pretty much everything. Then just fold and eat! I enjoyed my flatbreads with a spinach salad and some cucumber slices. This made enough for 4 people, and no one complained or died from my cooking. That's a success in my book. Also, I realize my food photography is severely lacking, but you get the point. Simple and delicious!

Day 3 Photo

Today's photo prompt was "Something you held"

Well, I hold my sweet boy every day, but I decided to go with something different. I'm working on crocheting a scarf for a Christmas present (shhh!) Just kidding, it's not a secret, it was a request. I'm still on the fence about whether or not it's gonna turn out alright or be really lopsided and funky looking. But as soon as I'm done I'll write about it and show off the finished product (funky or not).

Peace on Earth

Today's photo prompt: "Peace"

There's not much that's more peaceful than a sleeping baby. :)

It was another hot 80 degree day today. I think Texas is confused about what season it actually is. So baby and I were both in shorts and T-shirts today. This picture was taken after we got back to the house after lunch at Fuzzy's Taco Shop (such good food!) Car rides most of the time just knock him out. His little sunglasses were hanging off his nose :)

Oh, the weather outside is HOT

It's the first of December today! As I wrote yesterday, I'm starting a new photo-a-day challenge this month thanks to Fat Mum Slim. Today's prompt was "8 o' clock." At 8 o' clock this morning, I had just got done feeding the baby and was putting him back to bed for a couple more hours of sleep. I was lazily laying in bed. (Anything to sleep just a little while longer!) So the resulting photo was:

Staring at the window, wishing the sun wasn't up yet! Since we just moved into this house in September, we are slowly getting things the way we want them. All the blinds on all the windows are SUPER cheap and do pretty much nothing to keep the sun out. And of course my bedroom window faces East. Eventually I'll get around to getting some curtains or some room-darkening blinds (I hope).

The other event on today's agenda was going to Christmas on the Square, a kind of street fair kicking off the season in Historic Downtown Weatherford. Downtown has a TON of really cute shops and restaurants. I did pretty much all my Christmas shopping there last year. The event today was filled with food, craft booths, music, and fun. The high today according to the Weather Channel was a brisk 80 degrees, and at one point the car thermometer said 83. Whew! It's December and it feels more like summer outside. So we loaded up in our tank tops, t-shirts, and shorts and headed downtown.

It was hot and sunny. Everyone thought Zachary's sunglasses were so cute though! Part of our church's booth was supposed to be to serve wassail, and instead of serving it hot, they ended up serving it over ice. There was an ice sculpture contest earlier in the day, but by the time we got there, Mr. Nutcracker was looking a little droopy.

Even though it was hot, we still had a fun time. Zachary got to take his very first picture with Santa! In his shorts, and T shirt no less. And we ended up coming home with 2 different types of local salsas, and 3 different scents of wax cubes for a candle warmer that are also made locally. I got an idea for my next crafting project too. A booth had a really cute "Welcome" metal door hanger with snowmen on it that my mom really liked, but part of it was bent really badly. So I promised her I would make something to hang on the front door (what have I gotten myself into?) All in all, it was a good time, and a good way to really kick off the Christmas season (I just can't get into Christmas before Thanksgiving is over, sorry). Now if only the weather will cooperate then it might actually feel like Christmas! :)

Crest 3D White Professional Effects Whitestrips - Review

Hi everyone!

Today I'd like to tell you all about a product I've been trying out over the past couple of weeks - Crest 3D White Professional Effects Whitestrips.

Disclaimer: I received the Crest Whitestrips for free, complimentary of Influenster. I am doing this review for free as well.

What is Influenster? It's an online community of people who use social media and online presence to give opinions and reviews of products and experiences. From their website:

Influenster [in-floo-uhn-ster]

noun
An exclusive online community where tastemakers and trendsetters (such as yourself) come to share the latest and greatest news, places, products, and reviews with each other. 2. The hotspot you just bookmarked on your web browser that turns your social influence into sweet rewards.
Basically, Influenster is a place for culture junkies to come together and share their unique opinions of products and experiences. Active members of Influenster get exclusive access to deals, promotions, and swag from brands that thrive off the input (the good, the bad, and the ugly -- they just want to know what's up).

Check out their website, it's a really great community. And if you'd like an invite to the site, let me know, I have a few I can spare! I'd also like to say a big Thank You to Crest for the chance to try out their product as well. You can check out their products as well as reviews and offers at their website here.

So how do these Whitestrips work? Well, there are a few different types, but the ones I received were the Professional Effects. There are 20 whitening treatments in the box and one treatment takes 30 minutes daily. Crest says you can start seeing results in just 3 days and they are satisfaction guaranteed. Each treatment comes with an upper and a lower strip.

The shorter one is the lower strip and the longer one is the upper strip. They are a bit like gooey stickers. You put the strip over your teeth, fold over, leave them on for 30 minutes and then take them off. It's as simple as that, you just can't eat or drink while you're wearing them. They aren't uncomfortable to wear at all and they don't take over your mouth like some of those whitening trays do. They don't taste great, but the taste isn't too bad, just like peroxide, since that's what's in them. They're very convenient to use and take minimal effort.

So what did I think of them? Sure enough, I did see results within about three days. My problem though, is that I'm notoriously bad at remembering to do something everyday. I don't know why I have such a problem with this, but I just get distracted with my day and never get around to doing whatever it is. I found though I remembered a little better if I put them on right before my shower for the day. If I could remember to actually use the strips every day, I think I would probably see faster results. But, this actually turned out to be in my favor. The strips made my teeth really sensitive, to the point that it would be pretty painful at times. So not using them every day gave my teeth a chance to recover in between each use. I had to start using a toothpaste for sensitive teeth to help.

As far as the actual whitening, my teeth weren't super yellow to begin with so my results weren't extremely dramatic, but I can definitely see a change. Here's my teeth before:

And here they are after:

So you can see I definitely had some whitening. I'm really pleased with my results, my only complaint was the sensitivity they caused in my teeth.

Final verdict: I love my whiter smile! These strips work like they promise to. But they made my teeth a little too sensitive and painful for me. Crest does make a gentle version that you wear for only 5 minutes at a time, and I might be interested in trying them. But I do think I will be trying some of the other products in the 3D White lineup, like the whitening toothpastes. If you want a whiter smile in an easy, convenient way, this is definitely a great tool and I would suggest it to you, especially if your teeth aren't prone to sensitivity.

There you have it. Thanks again to Crest and Influenster for the opportunity to try out this product, and remember: If you're not whitening, you're yellowing!

Photo Challenges

Happy December! This year has just completely flown by, and so much has changed for me in the past year. I've moved twice and had a baby, on top of everything else, which is enough to pack a year just by itself!

So I've just finished Nuby's November photo challenge, and it was the first challenge I've ever successfully completed. I'm REALLY bad at remembering to do something every single day (like take vitamins, or whiten my teeth - more on that tomorrow) but I mostly managed to take a photo every single day this month except for I think 2 days I forgot. So since I had fun doing that challenge, I went in search of a December photo challenge to do!

There are a lot out there, but I've decided to do the Fat Mum Slim photo challenge.
I'll post all my pictures on my Instagram and also here. You can follow along or join in on the challenge! I'll post my first picture later tomorrow today when I wake up ;)

Happy picture-taking!
